<image:title>Blog - How to Care for Clogged Milk Ducts While Breastfeeding - This is my favorite choline supplement (currently 40% off.)</image:title>
<image:caption>Many moms hear about using supplements like sunflower lecithin to help with clogged ducts, but choline may actually be a better choice. Choline, which is naturally found in foods like eggs and soy, helps support the structure of breast tissue and assists in preventing milk from thickening and causing clogs. Adding a choline supplement to your routine may help improve milk flow and reduce the risk of recurring clogs.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I breastfed Hayes for 15 months. I was working full-time up to the day I gave birth and went back to working full-time 8 weeks later. I pumped twice a day at work and usually got to drive home to breastfeed him directly on my lunch breaks. I breastfed Ford for just over 13 months. Pretty similar experiences between both boys except for at around 6 months old, Ford started biting. I got mastitis for the first time and it was terrible. That’s probably the worst I’ve ever felt! I thought I had it all figured out since I’d done it before, and I was dealing with a whole new experience with round 2! Photo by Emily Jane Creative</image:caption>

<image:caption>Each one has been different. The one constant though is that they haven’t been easy at times. Whether it be a bad latch, clogged ducts, or feeling tied down to a pump, there’s definitely been lows with each journey. BUT I’m so thankful I was able to nurse each one of them and that we had that special bond. I was able to go 12 months with my first son and 5 months with my second. I am hoping to go 12 months with my third (and final) baby! Rachel Stricklin Photography</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - Baby Blues or Something More?</image:title>
<image:caption>Due to hormones, fatigue, birth trauma, unanticipated interventions, and medical conditions, not to mention a major life change, many new moms (over 50%) experience baby blues and as many as 20% experience perinatal anxiety/depression. How can you tell the difference, and more importantly, what should you do you? Baby Blues Usually presents in the first few days after childbirth and can last 1-2 weeks Can involve feelings of sadness, crying for no apparent reason, indecisiveness, and mood swings Typically resolves with supportive care in the first couple of weeks Postpartum Anxiety/Depression Most common in the first few weeks, but can occur any time during the 1st year following childbirth Can involve many of the same symptoms as baby blues, but may also include anger, guilt, anxiety, depression, and despair that may interfere with daily activities Treatment is available and is so important Remember, your body is undergoing many hormonal changes during pregnancy as well. For some women, these symptoms show up even before your baby arrives.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - Mom Spotlight: Elisabeth Farris</image:title>
<image:caption>I breastfed Robert for 11 months, and I am so proud of both of us for making it that long. I had LOTS of bumps along the way, and I couldn't have done it without help and encouragement from Jordan, friends who had been through it, and other lactation consultants. Over those 11 months, we went through a tongue+lip tie, reflux, exclusively pumping, a major oversupply, exclusively breastfeeding, nursing strikes, biting (ouch), and so much more. My pump even got run over by a car at one point! As hard as it was at times, I would do it all over in a heartbeat. I’m so thankful I was able to give Robert that liquid gold for so long, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I can’t wait to do it again one day, Lord willing! <image:title>Blog - Tips for Breastfeeding Successfully During the Holidays</image:title>
<image:caption>By now, your family may be familiar with your feeding goals for your little one, however your extended family may not. There is a big push for “normalizing breastfeeding” which we are TOTALLY on board with. However, I often still feel uncomfortable navigating these waters with grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. So my hope with this is to provide you with some tips that may make the holidays a little more comfortable for you and your family.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Meet Jordan Clarke, Founder, RN, BSN, IBCLC</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a lactation consultant and former pediatric nurse. I have a deep love for children and I am passionate about serving moms and their babies. I graduated with a Nursing Degree from Auburn University. While spending several years as an inpatient and outpatient pediatric nurse, I became a mom to a beautiful baby boy. Despite my years of educating moms on all things breastfeeding, I thought for sure I was prepared to start feeding my child effectively once he was born... I was wrong. I discovered the world of postpartum and breastfeeding that no one talks about or prepares you for. As a result, I made it my mission to make sure no mom feels alone, frustrated, or confused about how to feed her baby. I want to come alongside you in the midst of your breastfeeding journey (prenatal or postpartum) to problem-solve, educate, and encourage you.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Meet Valerie Grauel, RN, BSN, IBCLC</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a pediatric nurse and lactation consultant. I love meeting moms where they are and helping them develop plans to achieve their specific goals. I was a pediatric emergency room nurse for several years before moving to an outpatient pediatric setting where I’ve had the opportunity to spend more time with breastfeeding moms and their babies. My husband and I have lived in the Birmingham area for almost 10 years, and we have three young boys who keep us busy and active. While breastfeeding my own children, I realized the necessity for support during this unique season of life. I will forever be grateful for the encouragement and help I received while trying to navigate the many potential obstacles to breastfeeding. I love helping moms find ways to thrive during the newborn season and beyond. It is a sacred privilege to partner with families in this journey.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I am a former labor and delivery nurse and lactation consultant. I am passionate about working alongside mothers and their babies to develop a personalized plan of care that allows them to meet their breastfeeding goals! I have had the privilege of working with mothers and their babies for the last 11 years as a Registered Nurse in the hospital setting. I spent 6 of those years working as a Labor and Delivery/Postpartum nurse and the last 5 years as an inpatient Lactation RN/IBCLC. Throughout my experience as a bedside nurse and my own personal journey breastfeeding our 3 boys, I realized the value of breastfeeding education and support both in the prenatal and postpartum periods. I am passionate about equipping parents with the education, support, and tools they need to be successful in their breastfeeding goals. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of such a special time in your family's life!</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Meet Tabitha Baker, RN, BSN, IBCLC</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a pediatric nurse and lactation consultant. I have a deep passion for children and mamas. I am here to provide the information and the support you need to meet your breastfeeding goals all while supporting your family through the most rewarding transition of your life! I graduated from UAB with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Go Blazers!) I worked at Children’s Hospital of Alabama as a nurse for 5 years. I, then, transitioned into my role as a lactation consultant where I still work with babies and moms (primarily in our Neonatal ICU and Cardiac ICU). After having my son, I thought breastfeeding was going great, until it wasn’t. Through the help of other lactation consultants, I was able to successfully breastfeed for as long as we wanted. Because of their help, I became even more passionate about educating moms and supporting lactation. Breastfeeding can be hard at first, but I’m here to help you to feel comfortable and confident. There are many ways to offer breastmilk to your baby and I want to help you with a feeding plan that works best for you and your family. I truly would be honored to work with you, wherever you are on your feeding journey!</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Meet Courtney Parrish, RN, BSN, IBCLC</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a former Neonatal ICU nurse and a lactation consultant. I love getting to help mamas and their new babies grow and thrive in their breastfeeding relationship. I am an Auburn University nursing grad. I worked as a bedside nurse in pediatrics and the neonatal ICU for 8 years. I am now an IBCLC working in both the hospital and in-home setting. My husband and I stay busy chasing around our two little boys. I've always loved taking care of new babies. As a NICU nurse I was passionate about advocating for moms to have an active role in feeding their baby, so becoming a lactation consultant felt like a natural transition for me. While breastfeeding my own babies, I learned that having support is vital to a successful breastfeeding journey. No matter what stage of motherhood you are in, having a new baby is a big transition. My goal is to make feeding your baby a stress free and enjoyable bonding experience. It is an honor to have families welcome me into their lives during this special time!</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Meet Meagan Curry, RN, BSN, IBCLC</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a former pediatric nurse and lactation consultant. After my own breastfeeding journey and hearing other moms personal stories of struggle, guilt, and misinformation - it is my goal to help guide you to a place where you feel empowered and thankful for your breastfeeding journey. I am an Auburn University graduate. After working for six years at the bedside, I had a strong desire to start helping mamas achieve their breastfeeding goals. My husband and I have two little boys who bring so much joy to our life. With our first child I desired to breastfeed, but never did any research or attend a breastfeeding class. I assumed we would quickly figure it out after delivery. I was a nurse and this was supposed to come so naturally along with all my other mothering intuition, right? After weeks of struggling I was able to get help from multiple lactation consultants. Their kindness, advice, and education were invaluable to me and our family. Because of that, my son and I were able to continue breastfeeding for as long as we desired. My goal is to make each mama feel supported, confident, and empowered in her breastfeeding and postpartum journey. What an honor it is to “mama” along side you!</image:caption>

      <image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>Meet Hannah Meads, RN, BSN, IBCLC I am a lactation consultant who has worked in Obstetrical Women’s health my whole nursing career. I love to educate parents about breastfeeding so that they can have a seamless transition into the 4th trimester. I have always loved babies and I find it such a joy to be able to work with them in their first days and weeks of life. I graduated from Samford University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and worked for several years in an OBGYN clinic. I then transitioned to a role where I helped educate moms prenatally about lactation and what to expect during labor and delivery as well as their hospital stay. I have been helping moms with breastfeeding in the hospital setting for several years. I have three boys of my own. My twin boys were born with a rare genetic disorder and they really struggled with feeding. We tried latching, bottle feeding, supplementing with donor milk, supplementing with formula, fortifying, and eventually feeding tubes: NG tubes and Gtubes. We even had to do TPN (IV nutrition) at one point. Unfortunately, they did not receive their healing on this side of Heaven and at one year old walked into the arms of Jesus. I say all that to let you know, I have experience, professionally and personally, with all types of feeding options. I am committed to helping you come up with a plan that is best for you and your baby.</image:caption>
